Dimensions & Scale

Length 1600 m × Width 1106 m × Height 554 m. Supplied fictional body dimensions.

Proposed operating mass: approximately 800,000,000 ton (metric tons). 1600 × 1106 × 554 m body envelope × assumed 0.28 solid-volume fraction × assumed 2.9 ton/m³ crystal-metal composite bulk density, rounded. These are fictional geometry and material assumptions, not a measured mineral-specimen density or cargo manifest.

Weapons & Armament

Forward crystal domains converge to focus intrinsic attack fields. Broad overlapping shoulder and flank domains redistribute defensive fields around the protected cradle mass. Exact battery counts are not assigned: attack and protection are expressed through controlled material states within the coherent lattice, without attached guns or separate launch hardware.

External Anatomy

A short, substantial forward taper joins a very broad, deep middle-aft body. Galena-inspired cubic cleavage shapes a limited number of unequal primary domains, offset junctions and clipped facet corners. Long oblique overlaps preserve a directional silhouette. Graphite roots connect lead-silver faces and pale turning facets, with localized activity along protected internal boundaries.

Functional Architecture

A low central cradle spine branches into both shoulders, organizing enclosed cultivation volumes and protected exchange seams. Stored energy, cognition and mineral reserves occupy the same continuous parent lattice. Smaller bodies are supported through compatible growth and planned release intervals; the carrier is not an unlimited source of instant new vessels.

Technical Specifications

Offensive rating: 62/100 — Convergent forward material states provide attack secondary to the carrier role

Defensive rating: 84/100 — Deep parent roots and overlapping shoulders redistribute defensive fields

Mobility rating: 35/100 — Capital-scale mass favors deliberate convoy movement over rapid pursuit

Tactical cognition rating: 80/100 — Distributed lattice cognition coordinates sheltered dependents and release intervals

Endurance rating: 86/100 — Large finite reserves support extended cultivation and convoy service when supplied with compatible minerals

Fleet support rating: 96/100 — Protected cradle volumes and planned release intervals provide exceptionally strong formation support

Fleet Role

Space Cradle Carrier. Enormous protected internal capacity supports cultivation, transport and sustained formation logistics. A deep reserve body can shelter dependent growths and redistribute protection without exposing mechanical bays. Large, calm primary domains keep the structural load paths coherent.

09 / VESSEL RECORD

Life Between Stars

Rear crystal generations rotate and diverge through connected roots to bias spaceflight fields. Movement is integrated into the material body rather than produced by exposed engines or exhaust. This dossier establishes space service; independent atmospheric landing, underwater operation and unrestricted interstellar travel are not assigned.

Defense Architecture

Deep common roots, overlapping shoulder masses and controlled field redistribution protect the enclosed cradle regions. Reserve partitioning can preserve a sheltered volume while a damaged growth boundary is isolated. Fractures crossing the parent lattice remain dangerous to both carrier memory and dependents.

11 / VESSEL RECORD

Operational Limits

The large body accelerates and redirects slowly relative to lighter escorts. Cultivation, shielding and movement draw from finite shared reserves. Dependent growth requires compatible mineral feed and maturation time. Damage to cradle roots can force evacuation or leave incomplete memory; a new body cannot recreate lost identity automatically.

History & Lineage

Universe lore · authored service history

Origin

Matured in the Lethren Fold orbital nursery as a galena-derived carrier body. Its long service transformed sheltered cultivation capacity into a personal obligation to the independent lives it carried.

Lineage & Branch

Leadlock cradle-carrier lineage. Broad parent domains and protected daughter-growth intervals adapt the shared Cryvum natural-growth language to spaceborne cultivation, transport and deployment.

Fleet or Unit

Cryvum — Lethren Fold cultivation convoy; custodian of the Unclosed Cradle record

Individual History

Leadlock Cradle-class Carrier travels with one protected interval left deliberately unoccupied. The space could support another young body, and its cultivation witnesses have repeatedly proposed using it. Leadlock refuses until a question from the Lethren Fold departure is answered: did the missing dependent leave by choice, or did the carrier close an exchange boundary before it could return? Its preserved record contains the closing action and the surrounding field disturbance. It does not contain the dependent's final response. The empty interval has become a visible cost of that uncertainty.

Leadlock matured in an orbital nursery whose quiet reserve cycles allowed smaller crystal bodies to grow within sheltered common-root surroundings. Its first companion, Softcleave, developed a recognition rhythm unlike the nursery's preferred timing. Witnesses suggested repeating the cultivation interval until the rhythm became easier to coordinate. Leadlock instead adjusted one sheltered boundary and learned to accept the slower answer. Softcleave eventually departed as an independent survey body. Their later exchanges were brief, but the carrier kept each as a separate memory rather than reducing them to a reusable pattern.

When hostile contacts approached the Lethren Fold mineral routes, the nursery assigned Leadlock to transport immature bodies and compatible feed toward a surveyed refuge. Its broad shoulders distributed protection while escorts verified the next approach. The convoy could not shelter every stored reserve and every passenger without reducing movement margin. Leadlock chose to carry several dependent bodies whose next stable growth interval was near, leaving mineral stock under another formation's protection. That formation lost contact during the departure. Survivors later challenged the priority, arguing that the abandoned feed could have supported many more lives.

At the narrow exit survey, Softcleave returned from a flank inspection just as scattered attacks disturbed the carrier's release boundary. Leadlock closed the seam to protect the immature bodies inside, then reopened it after its escorts secured local space. Softcleave was no longer answering. A witness outside the carrier had received an instruction to move away from the closing field; another remembered a request to remain nearby. Neither account established whether the survey body had survived. Leadlock continued to the refuge because its remaining dependents could not sustain a prolonged exposed search.

The episode later named the Unclosed Cradle began at the refuge's allocation hearing. Leadlock offered its preserved records and accepted a reduction in new cultivation until an independent survey could be arranged. A witness from a Winefacet descent formation helped distinguish carrier capacity from safe passage capacity: protected space inside a vessel did not guarantee a viable destination outside it. Leadlock used that distinction in its next deployment, admitting fewer dependents and retaining a larger withdrawal reserve. Several nursery members judged the change timid. The bodies carried on that voyage reached their release interval intact.

One returned fragment now shares a cadence with Softcleave's older survey records. It carries no continuous identity and cannot be treated as the missing companion restored. Leadlock has placed it beside the empty cradle interval under separate witness custody. The carrier still serves its formation, still cultivates finite lives from compatible material, and still releases them when they choose an available route. Before each closure it now waits for acknowledgments from both sides of the boundary. The pause reduces its deployment rate. For Leadlock, that lost speed is the measure of a responsibility it once believed protection alone could fulfill.
