Dimensions & Scale

Length 11.1 M × Width 1.8 M × Height 1.1 M. Total height is 1.1 M: 0.6 M above the design waterline plus 0.5 M draft. The supplied waterline and draft dimensions remain separate from the complete hull height.

Estimated surface displacement: approximately 5.9 ton (metric tons). 11.1 × 1.8 × 0.5 M immersed envelope × assumed volume coefficient 0.58 × seawater density 1.025 ton/m³ = 5.939 ton, rounded to 5.9 ton. Draft, rather than total body height, determines this fictional displacement allowance.

Weapons & Armament

Small precision emitters provide limited directed engagement. Compact countermeasure outlets protect a withdrawal or interrupt a nearby threat. Grown projector roots and recessed release regions remain part of the coherent hull; the reconnaissance role does not require a heavy broadside or large mechanical launch battery.

The sensing ridge has priority over sustained weapon output. Skytable preserves observation and a viable return route before committing to a short attack. Exact emitter counts, countermeasure capacity and measured range are not assigned.

External Anatomy

A long, low body connects pale sky-blue domains through dark slate-blue roots and silver-blue turning faces. Short tabular growths and local columnar regions overlap around the central hull without becoming transparent sheets. A broad prow parts water beneath low protective shoulder growths.

The dark waterline belt links the displacement body to its upper sensing architecture. Below it, a smoother continuous buoyant belly carries restrained longitudinal growth and aft flow channels. Its pale mineral coloration emerges from the cultivated composite rather than an exterior coating.

Functional Architecture

One or two low sensing ridges link high-resolution observations with passive optical and field-sensing facets. Distributed lattice cognition compares repeated returns, preserving confidence and uncertainty separately so the formation can distinguish a verified route from an attractive guess.

Energy allocation favors quiet observation, hull stability and a useful report. Small countermeasure and steering regions draw on the same reserve network. Compatible mineral feed restores damaged roots, while lost observation fragments remain gaps unless independent witnesses supply additional evidence.

Fleet Role

A quiet surface reconnaissance cruiser for passive observation, approach surveying and maintaining a reliable picture ahead of heavier naval units. It identifies local changes, reports uncertainty and withdraws rather than remaining in a heavy engagement. Cruiser is the Cryvum reporting role; its supplied body length remains 11.1 M.

09 / VESSEL RECORD

Maritime Operations

Two to four recessed hydrolattice flow channels in the aft waterline and lower hull accelerate seawater through aligned crystal-field states. Smaller channels bias steering. The vessel floats by displacement with a defined waterline and restrained wake; it does not hover over the sea.

Surface reconnaissance requires careful route and sea-state selection. The low body can reduce exposure but has limited freeboard. Underwater combat, atmospheric flight and independent space travel are not assigned.

Defense Architecture

The waterline belt and thick common roots shelter central cognition and energy paths. Low-profile sensing and compact countermeasures can complicate an approach long enough for the vessel to turn toward support.

Limited armored volume and low freeboard constrain protection. Exposed sensing facets and small steering channels remain vulnerable. Quiet operation supports detection avoidance but does not make Skytable invisible to every sensor.

Operational Limits

Small reserves, limited direct fire and low freeboard make rough water and sustained combat dangerous. Surface glare, disturbed currents and dense concealment can reduce observation quality. Countermeasure output is finite and competes with quiet propulsion.

It depends on heavier support when a verified route becomes contested. A damaged sensing ridge can leave a useful observer unable to confirm the next report; lattice repair does not recover observations that were never retained.

Strategic Strengths

High-resolution passive observation and a restrained surface outline suit careful route verification. Its coherent sensing lattice supports detailed contact reports from a small displacement body. Limited weapons and compact countermeasures preserve some withdrawal options without displacing the primary reconnaissance mission.

History & Lineage

Universe lore · authored service history

Origin

Cultivated beside the Istralen surface shoals, Skytable learned to preserve different interpretations of a reflected contact. Its service identity developed through a disputed report that separated an open route from a safe one.

Lineage & Branch

Skytable celestine-derived reconnaissance branch, adapting a corvette lineage into a small seaworthy surface observer. Short tabular domains and restrained columnar growth retain mineral continuity across the displacement hull.

Cryvum — Istralen Survey Exchange and the Pale Horizon reconnaissance formation

Individual History

Skytable Recon Cruiser matured beside the Istralen shoals where a bright horizon reached different optical facets at different angles. A nursery witness asked it to return one consistent contact from the reflected light. Skytable retained two, one moving with the surface and another remaining behind the reflection. The witness called the second trace a harmless duplication until a small survey body crossed the same region and found a sheltered growth. The young cruiser learned that clarity could mean preserving two possible observations rather than forcing every facet to support the easiest account. Its pale sensing ridge matured around that distinction.

Its first independent route survey followed a heavier surface formation toward a narrow supply approach. Skytable's low hull passed across a calm interval and reported that the immediate route was open. Behind it, a larger body met a changed current that the small observer had crossed without difficulty. The supply movement paused and lost its intended rendezvous. Skytable had reported an observation accurately but left its scope unclear. At the exchange inquiry it retained both the route trace and the heavier vessel's account. It began including sea state and the observing body's position with every report, so a passable route for a small cruiser would not silently become a safe route for the whole formation.

The Pale Horizon assignment brought Skytable ahead of a Tide Bastion traveling beside a faster pursuit escort. The escort pressed for an immediate identification of several weak contacts near the next approach. Skytable's passive facets could hold them, but glare obscured a distinction between floating debris and a concealed defender. It maintained the observation while the heavier body waited outside the uncertain sector. The delay irritated the pursuit vessel, whose direct attack could have forced a clearer answer. When a current change separated the contacts, the observer identified a defensive region beside usable water. The formation altered its heading and retained the supply passage without establishing control over every neighboring approach.

A later veil reduced the usefulness of the sensing ridge during withdrawal. Skytable expended a compact countermeasure interval and turned toward the last verified return heading. It could not protect both itself and a small accompanying witness from the nearest threat. The witness departed along a second route while the cruiser carried the surviving observation back. Skytable arrived with one upper facet fractured and no final confirmation from its companion. Repair restored the sensing surface but left a dark junction across the lost interval. The exchange accepted its return as useful intelligence, while the cruiser preserved the missing witness as an unresolved contact rather than adding a convenient survival to the record.

Another survey body later returned evidence that the second route had reached a calm pocket before the water changed again. The evidence neither restored the missing companion nor proved its destruction. Skytable requested a new survey only when the formation could support the approach without abandoning its present duty. A rival observer offered a confident account based on fewer returns and received the faster escort assignment. Skytable remained with the supply body, testing lower-risk routes and learning the slow vessel's movement limits. The assignment looked less dramatic in the exchange summaries, but allowed the cruiser to report passage conditions that another body could actually use.

Skytable now carries the dark repaired junction along the Pale Horizon's coastal surveys. It retains its high awareness, limited weapons and small displacement rather than treating a disputed history as a reason to grow into a heavy warship. At the next shoal, a trace has begun answering near the missing witness's last calm pocket. The cruiser will record it alongside the present supply route, keeping the two observations separate until a supported survey can approach. Its task remains to make a useful report whose limits survive transmission. The formation may choose pursuit, passage or delay; Skytable's pale ridge can inform that choice without claiming to have already resolved the lives beyond the horizon.
