Dimensions & Scale

Length 138 m × Width 83.5 m × Height 25.5 m. Supplied fictional body dimensions. Mobility uses Field Driven Crystal Lantern Tracks integrated into the crystal-metal structure.

Proposed operating mass: approximately 300,000 ton (metric tons). 138 × 83.5 × 25.5 m body envelope × assumed 0.35 solid-volume fraction × assumed 2.9 ton/m³ composite bulk density, rounded. Both coefficients are fictional design assumptions; the estimate uses the stated body envelope.

Weapons & Armament

Two massive primary lattice-projector organs dominate the forward half. Four to six medium attack outlets cover the forward shoulders, backed by one or two grouped dorsal shard-launch banks and smaller flank-defense outlets. Coordinated resonance concentrates lattice shear across a selected target region; every projector and launch recess is grown into the same coherent body.

External Anatomy

Broad iron-gray lamellae overlap lengthwise at unequal heights, sharing thick mineral-rich roots. A buried structural spine and two low stress shoulders reinforce the deep forward-middle mass. Dark reddish-charcoal intervals separate substantial silver-gray faces, with localized warm activity within emitter mouths and sensing grooves. The low underside remains continuous.

Functional Architecture

A low sensing ridge coordinates frontal pressure, flank interception and terrain clearance. Field Driven Crystal Lantern Tracks form grown propulsion regions within the continuous crystal-metal underside. Controlled field interactions and continuous lattice-phase transformations generate propulsion through these regions, while internal field-bias states coordinate steering. There are no conventional mechanical tread chains, wheels, axles or separate track assemblies. Material-exchange boundaries remain closed while the vehicle is traveling.

Fleet Role

Heavy Ground Linebreaker. Heavy frontal reinforcement and deep reserves favor sustained assaults against fixed defensive lines. Paired projectors can alternate pressure while field-driven crystal tracks stabilize the broad body over surveyed terrain. Its compact vertical profile limits exposed structures.

Ground Operations

Mobility: Field Driven Crystal Lantern Tracks. These specialized Cryvum tracks use controlled field interactions and continuous lattice-phase transformations to generate propulsion through the crystal-metal structure. They are cultivated as part of the vehicle rather than assembled from mechanical tread links. Coordinated track-field states provide ground movement, steering and a stable assault posture. This ground adaptation does not establish independent atmospheric or space flight.

Defense Architecture

Thick frontal domains and broad shoulders spread impact through shared roots. Recessed defensive outlets cover the flanks while the buried spine shelters reserve and cognition regions. Damage isolation is a controlled lattice-state response; restoration requires compatible mineral feed and time.

11 / VESSEL RECORD

Operational Limits

The broad footprint restricts narrow passages, steep transitions and unsurveyed ground. Track-field propulsion, interception and attack compete for stored energy. Concentrated damage through shared roots can impair several systems at once. Rapid turns and prolonged firing reduce withdrawal margin; major regrowth cannot be completed during a charge.

History & Lineage

Universe lore · authored service history

Origin

Cultivated in the Ferren Vale nursery as a ground adaptation of the Ironfold Bulwark-class Battleship growth language. Its own identity emerged through terrain sensing and responsibility for the consequences of opening a passage.

Lineage & Branch

Ironfold ground-breakthrough branch, using hematite-derived directional lamellae and deep common roots. The inherited battleship pattern organizes strength and reserves; local cultivation establishes a distinct planetary body and service memory.

Individual History

Ironfold Linebreaker keeps a narrow band of its left shoulder darker than the surrounding metallic faces. The band marks the instant a passage opened at Ashen Gate and a young cultivation body answered from within the supposedly empty defensive ridge. The formation remembers a successful breakthrough. Ironfold remembers holding its forward pressure one interval longer than it should have. It has since returned to the gate with its primary projectors quiet, asking the settlement to let it survey what remains beneath the shattered threshold.

Its first growth took place in Ferren Vale, where broad hematite domains were cultivated around a deep reserve spine. The nursery witness Veilroot taught it to distinguish a load-bearing fracture from a dormant identity boundary. Ironfold learned the exercise quickly on prepared material. The ground beyond the nursery was less orderly: buried growth, displaced mineral seams and old defensive structures answered the same resonance with different delays. Before its first deployment, it declined a shortened clearance trial and spent an additional cycle learning those delays. Veilroot called the refusal its first independent judgment.

At Ashen Gate, the assigned objective was a fortified route obstructing the movement of smaller Cryvum bodies. Flank observers identified active weapons along the ridge, and the forward battery began alternating lattice-shear pressure. Ironfold maintained a stable field-driven track advance while companions crossed broken ground behind its protective shoulders. A low signal appeared inside the defensive root just as the opening became usable. Its attack regions were already committed. It narrowed the second discharge, but the common root fractured before it could stop the propagation. A small body emerged damaged; another recognition interval ceased answering entirely.

The survivor adopted the reporting name Cinderfold and refused to be recorded as recovered material. Ironfold accompanied it to a sheltered mineral pool, reducing its own reserve allocation so the smaller body could stabilize a cracked cognition boundary. That act did not settle the question of the missing interval. Cinderfold remembered a neighbor preparing to leave the ridge, while the formation claimed no additional inhabitant had been confirmed. Ironfold preserved both statements separately. It could reproduce the timing of its own discharge, but could not supply a perception that had never reached its sensors.

During a later hearing at the Hearthglass Exchange, Ironfold encountered the same conflict between military restoration and nursery growth that troubled Ochretable Linebreaker. It requested compatible feed for its damaged shoulder, then withdrew part of the request after a cultivation witness explained which delayed bodies would lose their next growth interval. The decision left one medium attack outlet inactive during the following escort assignment. It completed the passage with reduced coverage and a longer survey, a result its formation accepted reluctantly. Cinderfold described the withdrawal of material as a debt beginning, rather than a debt paid.

The dark shoulder band contains an imperfect record of the gate signal. Smoothing that boundary would strengthen the adjoining projector root, but would also remove the last locally preserved interruption. Ironfold has accepted slower restoration instead. At Ashen Gate, the settlement now permits a limited survey under its own witnesses and forbids another discharge across the old threshold. The linebreaker has agreed. A new rhythm sometimes answers from deeper inside the ridge; it may be growing life, displaced resonance or merely stressed mineral. Ironfold waits for a second independent observation before deciding what a path through that uncertainty would mean.
